VW Golf R 24H to race at the Nurburgring 24 Hours race in 2027

Volkswagen will be entering the 24h Nürburgring in 2027 with the brand-new Golf R 24H – a racing version of the current-generation Golf R.

The Golf R 24H is an all-wheel-drive Golf R for the racetrack. It is being developed in collaboration with Max Kruse Racing. The show car featured in these images will be presented to the public in the Ring Boulevard at the Nurburgring.

The Golf R 24H is equipped with a widebody kit designed specifically for the twisty, undulating surface of the Nordschleife. The car has a large splitter and canards in the front, extended side skirts, a large diffuser and an equally massive spoiler at the back.

Reinhold Ivenz, Head of Volkswagen R, said, “The 24h Nürburgring is the toughest test for us under real competitive conditions. The Nürburgring is also our test and development track, and we will meet people at the 24h race who share our passion for performance – which is why the project is a perfect match for Volkswagen R.”

“With the Golf R 24H show car, we are making our vision for 2027 tangible at an early stage. The preparatory work for the real racing car has already begun. Even though we don’t want to reveal much about the technology yet: fans of the 24h Nürburgring can look forward to the most spectacular Golf R to date,” Ivenz added.
