The 2027 Infiniti QX65 looks sportier than the three-row QX60, and there’s an important key word in there.
After Infiniti first debuted its coupe-fied QX65 model back in late March, we’re getting hands-on with the brand’s spiritual follow-up to the FX series. In essence, this model aims to be the new standard for Infiniti’s comeback tour, as it launches alongside the existing midsize QX60 as well as the flagship QX80 SUVs in the lineup. To find out what all the sleeker QX65 has to offer, Kase headed to Nashville, Tennessee.
So, what makes this different from the closely related QX60? Well, the body shape is the most obvious giveaway, losing the squarer roofline (and the third row) for a sportier overall look. Generally speaking, the QX65 is otherwise identical to its more family-focused counterpart, using the same platform, more or less the same interior and the same powertrain. Under the hood, you get Infiniti’s 2.0-liter VC-Turbo engine, putting out 268 horsepower and 286 lb-ft of torque through a standard all-wheel drive system and a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Up front, the 2027 Infiniti QX65 does bring a different look to the equation than the QX60. It borrows the slim, piano key daytime running lights from the larger QX80, splitting the actual headlights into a different assembly, while there’s also a more dynamic-looking grille and a completely different back end, with a full-width LED lighting setup stretching across the more aggressively sculpted tailgate.
With a price tag starting at $55,535, the 2027 Infiniti QX65 Luxe is priced in the same ball park as its most immediate rivals, including the best-selling Lexus RX. Once you start moving up the trim stack to the $64,135 Autograph and start packing on options, though, the QX65 can get awfully pricey, to the point where it hits the same price point as its German rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5.
